Stones among

If you love 60s music like I do, this is a way to find out more about those special years which the Rolling Stones were a significant part of...  Choose a year and get a month-by-month chronicle of the most significant rock/pop album releases, along with a selection of major world events.

Why start in '62 and end in '72? This is a personal choice. 1962 saw significant career starts for the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and Bob Dylan and the years previous can be seen to belong culturally to the 1950s. A similar parallel exists with the first years of the 1970s having a continuation of the sixties - both culturally and politically/socially.

Please note: the list is obviously not exhaustive. I have tried to include most of the major artists, but some artists' discographies, especially early on in the decade, are hard to trace in terms of their release dates. Also, for British acts, I have somewhat arbitrarily chosen either a US or a UK discography depending on the band or artist. Finally, this list focuses on major new studio releases; compilations are excluded, as are (for the most part) live albums.
