Hey baby, what's in your eyes?
I saw them flashing like airplane lights
You fill my cup, baby, that's for sure
I must come back for a little more
You got my heart, you got my soul
You got the silver, you got the gold
You got the diamonds from the mine
Well that's all right, it'll buy some time
Tell me, honey, what will I do
When I'm hungry and thirsty too?
I'm feeling foolish and that's for sure
Just waiting here at your kitchen door
Hey baby, what's in your eyes?
Is that the diamonds from the mine?
What's that laughing in your smile?
I don't care, no, I don't care
Oh baby, you got my soul
You got the silver, you got the gold
You've got your love, just leave me blind
I don't care, no, that's no big surprise
TrackTalk
A song like You Got the Silver just came. It was an acoustic
guitar and when it came to making a record of it, we just
built it up and then the drums came in.
- Keith Richards, 1982
(I)t was one of the first
ones I wrote entirely by myself and laid on Mick. And I sang
it solo simply because we had to spread the workload.
- Keith Richards, Life (2010)
We did it and Mick tried it,
and at the end they said, Oh,
you do this one. There was no hassle or anything. It
was just like subdividing the labor.
- Keith Richards, 2020
(Keith) didn’t realize how much people like
that song. I’ve kind of reintroduced that, and it’s gone down
really well.
- Ron Wood, 2019
