Guess it's just another dream that's slipping away
Each time that I fall asleep, it seems I'm drifting away

Just as you have touched my heart
Babe I wake and we're apart, yeah
And it's slipping away

Here comes just another day that's drifting away   (drifting away)
Every time I draw a breath, it's dying away

First the sun and then the moon   (slipping)
One of them will be around soon

(Slipping away)

(Slipping away) Slipping

Ooh yeah

It's all drifting away
It seems it's slipping away

Just as you have touched my heart   (slipping)
I wake and baby we're apart, yeah
It seems it's slipping away, yeah

(Slipping away) Mm, yeah
(Slipping away)

All I want is ecstasy
But I ain't getting much
Just getting off on misery
It seems I've lost my touch

Well it's just another song but it's slipping away
Well we didn't sing it long 'cause it's fading away

First the sun and then the moon   (slipping)
One of them will be around soon
And they'll be slipping   (slipping away)

(Slipping away)
(Slipping away) Slipping

(Slipping away)
(Slipping away)
(Slipping away)
(Slipping away)

(Slipping away) Oh yeah
(Slipping away) I...
(Slipping away) I just can't keep on (...) baby
(Slipping away) Drifting

(Slipping away) Oh yeah, yeah
(Slipping away) Slipping away
(Slipping away) Just (...)
(Slipping away) Ooh (...)

(Slipping away) (...) disappear baby, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Slipping away) Ooh-ooh...

TrackTalk

(When we re-recorded it for Stripped, w)e realized, Wow, that song kind of slipped away. It just kind of tailed off at the end of Steel Wheels. We realized what potential it still had, and the band and especially the horn guys said, You've got to do that! So in a way, I agreed to do it at gun point. But when I got into it, I really liked singing that song. It's got some depth.

- Keith Richards, 1995
