How I wish that you
Were here again
But if I could see you
And touch you with my hand
If I could feel you
But I know damn well I can't
Honey, honey, honey, yeah
How I wish I had you
Near again
If I could see you
Oh just now and then
But if I could feel you
Well I'd do my time again
If I could kiss you
Caress you now and then
Just to thrill you
I'd do life again
TrackTalk
Actually, that was the first track we recorded. The more I got into it, the more I realized that I didn't have to keep verses and choruses the same length.
We'd let things evolve just by playing. Like
in the song How I Wish, those guitar stabs, those syncopations.
Nobody can play those parts like Keith. So I'd just go the other way and
play straight through. So if Keith's doing this dotted eighth-note figure
and I'm keeping the straight eighth-notes going under that, when you hear
it back, it sounds like ten guitars working together.
