Hide away

Make sure that I never come back and I
Disappear and I never come back and I

I'm going to pack up all my bags
Vanish while I can
Leave this town behind
Pay it all no mind

I'm going to fly away
And (Where) no one's going to find me, yeah

Keep my destination quiet
Take an early morning flight
Never tell a soul
Just light out on my own

I'm going to wear some fake disguise
Change the colour of my eyes

I'm going to hide away

Yes and you're going to be surprised
I'll be wise before my time

I'm going to rent a small hotel
Throw away my cell
Cut off all my hair
Sweep away my cares

I'm out of everybody's reach
Out on some twisted beach

Dissolve right out this scene
Out of everybody's dreams

Hide away baby
Oh no no no...
Oh yeah

I'm never going to come back again, baby
I'll never come back again
Oh no no no no no

Make sure I'll never come back again
Oh no no no no no

Never, never, never come back again
There ain't no use in looking for me, baby
No no no no
You never, never, never going to see me sure enough, no no no...
And hide away
Hide away baby
Never, never come back again
That's all right, that's all right, that's all right, that's all right

TrackTalk

It started as a Sam Cooke-styled song but by the time we were recording it, it turned into an Al Green tune. Wyclef Jean provided a very different swing to it. Some Caribbean flavour, even if it's a soul song.

- Mick Jagger, 2001

It's one of those sessions I'll remember for the rest of my life. I did it as a fusion of hip-hop meets rock, the style of rock that Mick does, the real authentic rock with the right guitar sounds and stuff. His (vocal) chops were pretty incredible, definitely real hot - the minute the track comes on you'll be able to hear it's definitely hot.

- Wyclef Jean, August 2001
